Why you should vote in the SEC elections
Colin Rose, Outgoing SAITSA President
Dear SAIT students,
The Students’ Executive Council (SEC) election campaign is officially underway! We hope that you’ll take the time to review the platforms of the candidates and think about who you’re going to vote for.
Why should you care? First of all, if you’re a full-, part-time, or apprentice student in a grant-funded program, you pay SAITSA fees. The amount you pay varies, but if you’re a full-time student you’ve paid $161.25 to SAITSA this year. We use this money to fund important programs and services that you have access to as a student, ranging from the Health & Dental Plan to campus events, and everything in between. Our goal is to make your experience here at SAIT as positive and rewarding as possible, and your feedback is important to us.
By taking the time to find out what the SEC candidates stand for and to vote, you’re helping to choose the direction in which SAITSA moves. Don’t let your vote go to waste! Check your SAIT email next week for a link to the online voting page, or stop by a polling booth. Voting takes place from Feb. 9 - 11.
And if you’ve got a spare lunch hour on Tuesday, come watch the candidates debate in the Heart Atrium from 11 p.m.– 1 p.m. Best of all, you can win a Sony PS3 just by coming!
Happy Voting!
Colin Rose,
Outgoing SAITSA President
