It’s not too early to look for a summer job

Want to work for the government this summer? There are positions available specifically for post-secondary students.

Parks Canada

To work for Parks Canada’s student employment program, you must be a full-time secondary or post-secondary student in an accredited institution. You must be currently recognized as having full-time student status by the academic institution in which you are presently enrolled in.

Positions include: administration, computers, safety, security, cultural, science, general labour and recreation.

Parks near Calgary:

• Hot Springs Enterprise Unit, Three locations: Banff, Jasper, and Radium, B.C.
• Jasper National Park
• Lake Louise, Yoho and Kootenay
• Waterton Lakes National Park

Government of Alberta

The government of Alberta’s student summer employment registration service begins Feb. 1.
Students may work in areas such as: administrative support, research, policy, finance, forestry, information technology, accounting, economics, law, human resources, communication, environmental science, conservation, tourism, corrections, grounds keeping, or maintenance.

Employment is typically two to four months during the summer with interviews being scheduled in March or April.

To be eligible, you must be a secondary or post-secondary student in an accredited institution and be returning to academic studies in September.
