Trending orchestral video game concerts

Music is an integral part of the geek experience. From movies to video games, music can play a crucial role in setting the mood and atmosphere of the story or gameplay.

Music in video games has come a long way since the days of eight-bit music in old Nintendo, Sega, and Atari games. Many video games now include entire orchestral pieces and full-length soundtracks.

Recently, there has been a trend of dedicating entire orchestra concerts to the music from video games, including both the Video Games Live and The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses shows which are coming to Calgary this November.

“I’ll definitely be going to Legend of Zelda symphony,” said avid gaming fan Lauren Besseling, who has already purchased her tickets for the upcoming show.

“I absolutely love the Legend of Zelda games, and the music from the games is really awesome. It’s going to be a really great concert.”

Jeannine Jacobi, a representative of the JMP Presents Productions Inc. that produces the Legend of Zelda symphony says the concert tour is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for adults and children who have followed the Zelda franchise throughout the years.

“The concert’s fan base is growing exponentially and the event is captivating audiences throughout the U.S. and Canada,” said Jacobi.

“The name Symphony of the Goddesses refers not only to the concert program but also to the new four-movement symphony recounting the classic storylines from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess™, and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.”

The games that these shows are dedicated to are some of the most popular and beloved games of all time. To those who have been playing games since they were young, these games represent their childhood and their love of all things geeky.
