The Weal won third place in the Best of Show competition in its category at the National College Media Convention in Louisville, Kentucky from Oct. 27-31.

“I think it’s a testament to the hard work of everyone involved in our paper’s production that we ended up in the top three,” said Weal news editor Emily Kreiberg.

“From writing to photography to layout, I think everyone who works for The Weal puts their soul into making sure it’s a quality paper.”

The Weal competed against post-secondaries from across the U.S. in the two-year college, four to 16 pages category.

The Associated Collegiate Press, a national membership organization for college student journalists, runs the convention. The Weal won third in the same category in 2009, and first in 2008.
